Our History

Maharaja was introduced to downtown Milwaukee in the fall of 1997. Originally from Punjab, India, Balbir Singh and Baldev Bolla would travel on separate journeys through many Middle Eastern and European countries. Ultimately, they would end up in the United States where they would later be acquainted in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Soon after, Maharaja would be established offering Milwaukee one the first tastes of traditional Indian cuisine.

The Maharaja menu focuses on both the northern and southern cuisines of India. Along with our freshly prepared chicken, lamb, goat, seafood and vegetarian specialties, we also offer an array of Indian beers to compliment your dining experience. Our wine list features hand selected red and white wines by the glass. Indian beers range from 22oz bottles of Taj Mahal and Flying Horse to 12oz bottles of Kingfisher and Maharaja. Our aspiration here at Maharaja is for Milwaukee to experience the many vast cultures of India as the “Maharaja’s” once did through the passion of fine food and drink.
